Within the scope of the European Union Erasmus+ Key Action 2 Cooperation Partnerships for Higher Education (KA220-HED) programme, FUTUREU Jean Monnet Module Chair Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özgün Erler Bayır's project titled "Digital Diplomacy: Building the Common Future with Technology" is succeeded to be funded by EU.
EU STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP SUCCESS: OUR “DIGITAL DIPLOMACY” PROJECT IS GRANTED
The project application of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Özgün Erler Bayır from Faculty of Political Sciences, İstanbul University which is called “Digital Diplomacy: Building the Common Future with Technology” [DD-Tech] achieved to be selected for Erasmus+ KA220 Cooperation Partnership for Higher Education. The project was awarded among 122 projects that were evaluated and scored. The project aims to develop a “Digital Diplomacy Module” that enables our students to develop skills to carry out digital diplomacy culture, apply it in innovation processes and improve their technological response/solutions capacities. The project that will continue for 3 years will include trainings, dissemination activities, and preparation of the module.
6 UNIVERSITIES FROM 5 COUNTRIES WILL INCREASE THE CAPACITY OF STUDENTS BY DEVELOPING THE COMMON DIGITAL DIPLOMACY CURRICULUM
The partners of the project, which aims to develop a digital-based common curriculum among European countries within the scope of the Digital Diplomacy course in order to train the “diplomats of the future” who can comprehend global trends, are Universita Cattolica del Sacro Cuore from Italy, , Tartu University (Tartu Ulikool) from Estonia, Ljubljana University (Univerza V Ljubljani) from Slovenia, University of Bucharest (Universitatea Din Bucuresti) from Romania and Istanbul Commerce University from Turkey. Within the scope of the project, alongside with the use of tools that will enhance students’ digital capabilities, it is planned to develop exercises that promote 'learning by doing'. Through the project, it is planned to train students who are willing to develop their digital competencies related to sustainable and technological interventions/solutions; and expected that students will have a significant impact on shaping the digital future as future diplomats/decision makers.
MORE THAN A MODULE
With the cooperation of six universities from five countries, the project aims to not only develop a module on digital diplomacy, but also to create a manual and a digital platform for trainers. The DD-Tech project will host various international activities and trainings, benefiting 60 students and 24 educators/trainers in total. WHAT IS ERASMUS+ K2 STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP? This action enables participating organisations to gain experience in international cooperation and to strengthen their capacities, but also to produce high-quality innovative deliverables. The aim is to support the higher education sector in becoming even more inter-connected, innovative, inclusive and digital. For this purpose, the Programme will encourage much deeper and inter-disciplinary cooperation between higher education institutions, as well as with their surrounding innovation ecosystems, and the strengthening of links between education, research and innovation.
